Mac Format (UK) magazine reviewed Invision Power Board 2.1.5 for their June ‘06 issue and awards it 4.5 stars (out of 5).
There are several features that really make Invision Power Board 2 stand out from other pre-built forums which you’ll appreciate if problems occur. People may start leaving unwanted or libellous posts, which can lead the discussion away from the original subject or get you, as the administrator, in trouble. This is where the protective administrative features of the Invision Power Board win out over the bare bones forums every time.

Careful with that scanned image, they might ask you to take it down as its a copyright violation unless you had their permission to put it up. A few of my colleagues got hit with that.

The article is a bit lightwieght and apart from the bit Matt quoted doesn’t really explain why IPB is such a good solution and worth paying for.

I don’t think many Windows users are going to be reading Mac Format in any great detail
But I agree, it’s odd they chose to say its Linux only when I develop on a OS X machine using the OS X client server.

True, but, I think there are more Linux webservers than OS X. Redhat/Fedora is quite popular. It’s surpising a Mac magazine would forget list just Linux and not Linux/Mac for compatability. Good job Matt.

I have some security questions about IPB. Can I ask what is a good way to get them to you? A IPB-using site made some assertions about security on their site that I believe don’t hold up to scrutiny… this involves their use of IPB.
